RISE Chairman, Martin Kinsella

An ambassador for social inclusion
It is with great sadness that we announce that RISE Chairman and Former CEO of P3 charity Martin Kinsella MBE passed away on Sunday 21 August 2016. Martin showed a strong commitment to the values and work of RISE since he joined the Board of Directors in January 2016. The Board was privileged to work with Martin and receive his guidance to help continue changing the lives of those who are marginalised from society, a passion we deeply shared with Martin.

Martin started working to rehabilitate offenders in 1985. He then became a Health Authority Mental Health Commissioner and established a service addressing mental health issues of offenders within the Criminal Justice System. In 2002 he joined the P3 charity and social enterprise, and built them into a strong organisation, leaders in addressing social exclusion. He always advocated that offending behaviour is part of a wider spectrum of social exclusion and organisations like P3 and RISE should always look at their service users as individuals with complex needs. Martin held a strong belief that by looking after your employees, they will be capable of achieving something amazing. Upon his retirement in 2015, P3 had won several UK Charity of the Year awards and twice topped the Sunday Times list of 100 best companies to work for.

Martin’s career was dedicated to working in the charities and social enterprise sector to challenge social injustice. His invaluable contributions to both P3 and RISE will have a lasting impact for many years to come and he will be remembered with great admiration.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and close friends.
