Up is down. Left is right. Arms and legs are switched. A seemingly straightforward exercise demonstrated to this audience at West London College the expectations placed on people causing harm to change their behaviours and beliefs without the guidance and support required to make the change.
At West London College, we led a days training to teaching staff on how to cope with children and young people displaying challenging behaviour. This included group interactions, talks, and methods on how to overcome behaviours to prevent long-term harm and risk.
As part of our developing Training & Consultancy pillar, we offer training around our specialisms including challenging behaviours, children and young people, and mental health. Within this session, Elaine Knibbs spoke to teaching staff regarding their motivations for being in the education sector, before delving into challenges they face and providing tools on how to deal with them effectively, to support their wellbeing, and the young persons.
