Our wide range of psycho-educational courses are designed to educate and empower individuals to change their behaviour, at the early intervention stage. This ranges from addressing inappropriate behaviours, fraud related crimes, through to domestic abuse.

The term ‘Out of Court Resolutions’ (OOCR) refers to a range of options available to the Police to use as an alternative to a prosecution, for less serious and often first-time offences. RISE offer multiple courses as an OOCR; they provide swift and meaningful justice for victims, hold offenders accountable for their actions and reduce re-offending.

In order to be eligible, offenders must admit the behaviour took place, although some level of denial and resistance is expected.

Our OOCR interventions are based on several approaches and theories, including a Strengths Based approach, Cognitive Behavioural Theory (CBT), which provides a framework for how beliefs and attitudes affect thinking, feeling and behaviour, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and course-specific theories, including Strain Theory, Social Learning, and Feminist Theory. Other external factors (such as alcohol use) are also considered.

RISE deliver 3 commissioned courses, which are designed to take place over multiple days. Our other OOCR courses are short (2-3 hours), which allow them to be self-funded.

Commissioned OOCR

Due to the length of the courses, and the likelihood of further impact on families or young people if self-funded, the courses below are currently commissioned, and not available as a self-funded option.

Deferred Prosecution

Our short, self-funded courses (with a small one-off fee paid by the police for mobilisation) are generally suitable for offenders aged 18+ and are not suitable for domestic or sexual abuse offences, hate crime, those with an enriched history of inappropriate behaviour or where the offence is against a child.
