Perspective is designed to reduce the impact and frequency of hate crime, reducing reoffending. It consists of a 1:1 remote session to engage and motivate offenders, followed by three groupwork sessions in person, run weekly.
Course outline:
- Identity and Moral Reasoning – A 1:1 session where the participant is encouraged to focus on their identity when starting the journey of self-reflection, using the RISE hate crime wheel.
- Thoughts and Beliefs – A group session focusing on unconscious biases and the hierarchy of hate, analysing pre-printed beliefs and rigid thinking.
- Emotions and Empathy – Recognising emotions and feelings, including four typologies of hate crime.
- Alternative World Views – An exploration of alternative perceptions and challenging of prejudicial attitudes and risk areas.
